The project follows a hub-and-spoke organizational model: a central hub and three interconnected spokes, each with a different focus working towards the main goals of the project.
Spoke 2 focuses vertically on primary prevention, while Spoke 3 focuses vertically on secondary and tertiary prevention. Spoke 1 operates horizontally, supporting the other two spokes in technological development and other enabling factors.
SPOKE 1
Enabling factors and technologies for digital preventions
The goal of Spoke 1 is to provide support to the other two spokes in terms of technological development, infrastructure, and enabling factors such as legal, ethical, health technology assessment, clinical and industrial exploitation, etc. On one hand, we provide specific support to the individual pilot projects of the other two spokes, while on the other hand, we are developing four solution frameworks in parallel that, once consolidated, will facilitate the realization of large-scale clinical studies on digital prevention.
How does it work?
Developing solutions for digital prevention, and even more so evaluating their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness, is challenging. Spoke 1 aims to develop specific solutions for specific needs, but also solution frameworks that can support the development and evaluation of any type of digital prevention methodology. In addition to making the development process more effective, we work to ensure that these innovations find industrial value and become part of health policies.
SPOKE 2
Community-Based Digital Primary Prevention
The goal of Spoke 2 is to develop an advanced and versatile surveillance system to prevent various diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, communicable diseases, and developmental disorders at the community level, in addition to improving readiness for emergencies or environmental disasters.
How does it work?
This system aims to assess risks associated with lifestyle choices and disease factors, including environmental pollution and genetic profiles, both in daily life and work contexts. This is facilitated by digital tools designed to foster connections and preventive measures at all stages of life.
SPOKE 3
Digitally-enabled secondary and tertiary prevention.
Spoke 3 focuses on the implementation of digital solutions for secondary prevention (reducing the impact of a disease or injury that has already occurred) and tertiary prevention (mitigating the impact of ongoing diseases or injuries with lasting effects) for individuals of all ages.
How does it work?
Developing digital models of the human body for better medical understanding and treatment planning;
Using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital biomarkers to predict complications and assess treatment effectiveness;
Creating digital platforms that consolidate data registries, wearable sensor data, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, decision support systems, and home and mobile applications to provide comprehensive health monitoring and management.
